School Introduction

The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at Yonsei University was formed in March 2002 by integrating the Departments of Electrical Engineering (est. 1950), Electronic Engineering (est. 1969), and Microwave Engineering (est. 1992) for in-depth education and research. The School has nurtured over 10,000 graduates who have led the industrial development of the electric, electronic, and microwave engineering and played an important role in the educational and economic growth of the nation. We are continuously striving to produce engineering leaders who will play a pivotal role in the rapidly changing society of the future.

The faculty of the School is comprised of over 57 tenure-track professors, 4 adjunct professors, 4 staff members, over 1,000 undergraduate students and over 750 graduate students. We are recognized as the nation's best educational and research institute in the field of EEE. In particular, the graduate program has been awarded with the Brain  Korea 21 (BK21) Project Phase 4 from the Ministry of Education and Science Technology, with commensurate financial support for the past 18 consecutive years. Thanks to this, the department is growing further as a pioneering educational and research institution.

Recently, in order to respond to rapidly changing industrial demands, the education and research groups are reorganized into 4 future core technology research fields :  BASE (Bio-Health, Artificial Intelligent Hardware and Software, System Semiconductor, and Energy-Network-Communication). Additionally, our continuous efforts to grow into a world-class education and research group through facilitation of the linked undergraduate-graduate program and  interdisciplinary/international joint research have enabled our department to be ranked at Top 100 in the QS World University Ranking. We will strengthen our joint efforts and cooperation with world-class universities, research institutes, and companies to advance into Top 50 in the near future.

The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering serves arduously to promote Yonsei University’s educational missions based on Christianity and guide students to become engineering leaders in the world. We wish you to be our continuing partners and encouraging patrons in our journey through these rewarding challenges.
