GBED Need-Based Financial Scholarship Application

for 2022 Spring Semester

1. Eligibility

A. Students who are currently attending 1st or 2nd semester of Global Basic Education Division

B. Online interview with academic professor is required

C. Minimum of 12 credits, GPA 2.5 or higher in 2022 Spring Semester

D. Students who meet the following Korean language proficiency requirements as of the date of application 

※ TOPIK certificates can be replaced by completion results of equivalent or higher Korean language courses taken at Yonsei Korean Language Institute(KLI).

※ For students who do not have TOPIK scores as of the scholarship application date,the 83rd TOPIK results will be accepted for this semester only. (The 83rd TOPIK Registration period: May 24-30, 2022 / Test date: July 10 / Score reporting date: August 18)

   If you need to take the test, do not miss the application date on TOPIK website and submit your transcript to gbed@yonsei.ac.kr as soon as the results are released on August 18th.

   (*From 2022-2 application, only TOPIK scores as of the scholarship application date will be accepted.)

2. Application Procedure

A. Online Interview with Academic Professor (Prerequisites)

B. Preparation of Evidential Documents

* if the required documents are not submitted, your application will be excluded from the examination.

C. Online Application

1) Period: May/2/2022 (Mon.) – June/3/2022 (Fri.)

- Once the application form is submitted, you cannot modify or check your answers. Please review it several times before you click ‘Submit’

- If the form closes while filling out, your answers will not be automatically saved. It is recommended to fill out a separate document in advance and copy it into the form.

D. Submission of Evidential Documents

1) Period: May/2/2022 (Mon.) – June/3/2022 (Fri.)

2) Process

Step1. Submit a copy of all the documents via e-mail

- E-mail Address: gbed@yonsei.ac.kr

- Format: PDF only (Combine all the documents into ONE PDF file in order)

- Email Title & File Name : "Student Number_Name_GBED Financial Scholarship”

Step2. After emailing the documents, submit original versions by offline mail

- Mailing Address: [Global Leaders College Scholarship] Room #205, New Millennium Hall, Yonsei University, 50, Yonsei-ro, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea (03722)

- When you send a mail, make sure to write down your student number and name on the front page in order to confirm your application

E. Result Announcement: noticed via personal email registered in the Yonsei portal at the end of July 2022.

F. Payment: paid directly to your Korean bank account registered on the Yonsei Portal during August ~ September 2022. Please make sure to register your account in advance.  (The sum of this scholarship and other school scholarships (e.g., 우수외국인장학금, GBED Merit-based Scholarship) cannot exceed the tuition amount.)

3. Precautions

A. Only application form and documents submitted within the period will be received, so please submit them within the deadline.

B. The more supporting documents you can submit the higher your chances of success will be.

C. If the interview with academic professor has not been carried out, the application will not be accepted.

D. All the evidential documents should be prepared in Korean or English. The documents not in Korean or English must be translated.

E. Scholarship may be canceled if the contents of the application or documents are found to be false.

F. Students who submit the 83rd TOPIK transcript additionally will be paid between the end of August and early September after confirmation.
