▣ Abstract

This talk is devoted to introducing the fundamentals of surface plasmon resonance imaging and its application. Surface plasmons are quanta of plasma, a surface electromagnetic wave whose propagation is confined to the metal-dielectric interface. Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) happens when the surface plasmons are excited by evanescent waves. Physically, the intensity of the reflected light decreases sharply at the angle required for the resonance, depending on the refractive indices. Indeed, SPR imaging would be a promising way to capture the images in the vicinity of the wall with a pretty high vertical resolution, and it has been widely used for bio-sensor applications. This talk will introduce some applications of biosensors and phase change heat transfer, including evaporation, condensation, and frosting.
