초록

This study aims to investigate themost appropriate grit factor structure for Korean high school students and to see the impact of goal-specific grit(English grit) on English achievement compared to that of general grit. The data were obtained from a total of 488 Korean high school students by using the Grit-S(Grit-Short) and an adapted Grit-S for English grit. Confirmatory Factor Analysis and Structural Equation Modeling were applied to analyze the data. The results suggested that two-correlated factor structure of grit outperformed its rival models such as one-factor and bi-factor models. In addition, the sub-constructs comprising goal-specific English grit were found to be more influential predictors than those of general grit in predicting Korean high school students’English achievement. The results were consistent with the outcomes from prior studies. Lastly, pedagogical implications were further proposed.

그릿은 개인의 안녕을 위해 필요한 다른 심리적 자원을 지원해주는 역할을 담당하는 중요 비인적자원으로 인정을 받고 있으므로, 개인들의 행복과 개인들의 행복이 모여 이루어질 수 있는 사회적 안녕에 있어 반드시 필요한 요소로 사료된다. 본 연구는 그러한 그릿의 요인구조를 분석하였다.
