Student Visa Process

If you are not a Korean national, you will need a Student Visa to attend a full time course longer than three months. You must apply for a Student Visa in your home country before travelling to Korea and allow sufficient time for the visa to be processed. You must attend your visa appointment and obtain your Student visa before coming to Korea.


Below is the flow of obtaining a student visa for newly admitted degree students.

  1. Tuition Payment

    Office of General Affairs

  2. Issue Certificate of admission

    Office of International Affairs

  3. Changing visa, extending stay

    Immigration Office

Visit the local Immigration Office and apply for Change of Status of Sojourn

  1. ① Receive “Issuance of Certificate of Admission” guideline email from Yonsei OIA (Freshmen will receive the guideline email after full payment of tuition)
  2. ② Submit documents required by Yonsei OIA
  3. ③ Receive your COA(Certificate of Admission) and copy of Yonsei Business Registration Certificate via email
  4. ④ Visit the local Immigration Office and change your visa status to D-2(student visa)

  1. Receive “Issuance of Certificate of Admission” guideline email from Yonsei OIA

  2. Submit documents required by Yonsei OIA

  3. Receive your COA and copy of Yonsei Business Registration Certificate via email

  4. Visit the local Immigration Office and change your visa status to D-2(student visa)

Apply for D-2 visa at Korean Embassy/consulate abroad

  1. ① Receive “Issuance of Certificate of Admission” guideline email from Yonsei OIA (Freshmen will receive the guideline email after full payment of tuition)
  2. ② Submit documents required by Yonsei OIA
  3. ③ Receive your COA(Certificate of Admission) and copy of Yonsei Business Registration Certificate via email
  4. ④ Visit the local Immigration Office and change your visa status to D-2(student visa)
