세미나 제목 : Nanorod Heterostructures for Multifunctional Optoelectronics

발표초록 :

Understanding and developing materials that can efficiently separate, recombine, and direct charge carriers with nanoscale precision are critical for next-generation electronics, optoelectronics and energy technologies. As heterostructures have enabled todays semiconductor devices, the introduction of active heterojunctions and interfaces that are atomically well-defined in nanoscale materials can lead to new and improved capabilities. Simultaneously, imparting versatile processing capabilities will facilitate wide adoption of such materials into high performance devices. With anisotropic shapes that can be exploited for assembly, charge carrier manipulation and optical anisotropy, incorporating heterojunctions and unique functional interfaces into solution processable colloidal semiconductor nanorods presents such a direction. Various motifs of epitaxial heterojunctions introduced in nanorods through solution chemistry will be presented along with unusual properties and prospects arising from the formation of heterointerfaces within structurally anisotropic materials. Integration of these interesting nanorod heterostructures into optoelectronics, especially in dual functioning light-emitting/light-responsive devices, will also be discussed as examples of new capabilities enabled by them.
