The message given to us today is divided into two parts, which can be understood in three ways.

(1) Daily life and the Sabbath. The first half of verses 9-12 is a lesson for daily living, and the second half of verses 12-14 is a lesson on the Sabbath life. It teaches us how God expects us to live in our daily lives and on the Sabbath.

(2) Conditions and Compensation. In the first part, verses 9-10 say, “If you do this,” and verses 10-12, “you will become like this”. In the second half, verses 13 and 14 are also recorded as such. There is a condition of ‘if you do something’ and a reward of ‘it will be like this’.

(3) Behavior and State. In the first half and the second half, it is written, ‘What kind of action you will be in what state you will be in.’ When you do something, you become a person. When you do something that you can see, touch, and hear, you are talking about what kind of status you become, what kind of heart you have, and what kind of state you will be in.

1. The first half – removing the heavy yoke – the watered garden

What is our role in our daily life? The role is to get rid of the heavy yoke, all kinds of violence, and verbal abuse; (1) A heavy yoke means the prejudices and beliefs that weigh us down. It is my law, and it is the ‘likeness’ that society has created. A ‘yoke’ is a ‘load stand’ that is put on to load a load on it. Just as cows carry their burdens, we each carry our own burdens and walk the path of life. How painful would a cow feel from the yoke on its back? Anyone who has lost weight knows this. How much does the weight hurt your shoulder? As believers, we have to live with the burden of faith and life, so we cannot take it off. Various burdens weigh on our shoulders along the path of our lives. How painful and heavy are your shoulders? So, we need a way to make the load feel light. The way to do this is to change the yoke, which is a “load-bearer,” into a light and comfortable yoke, as Jesus said in Matthew 11 to put on an easy yoke.

If the burden of a believer is life, then the yoke is an attitude of life. Our attitude in life can be either an uncomfortable yoke or a comfortable yoke, and depending on this yoke, the burden of life can feel heavy or light. Depending on what kind of yoke you have, your daily life and the life of fulfilling your mission may feel like hard work, or you may experience it as a spiritual inspiration. For example, if we try to evangelize, want to see the results of our efforts, or have an attitude that values visible achievements or achievements, that attitude is a yoke. If you do evangelism under this yoke, the burden of evangelism ministry can feel heavy, like disappointment, hopelessness, and helplessness. Depending on our yoke, the life of fulfilling our mission can be either heavy or light. What kind of attitude of life are you living with the burden of life as a yoke?

If you carry out your mission under this comfortable yoke that does not feel burdened or burdened, you can be free from disappointment or discouragement, blame or resentment, anxiety or worry. As the discomfort and pain in our shoulders subside, we can feel the sense of fulfillment of our mission easily. Let's take a look at my yoke now! If you ever put a load on a heavy yoke that puts a pain on your shoulders, you will feel that every day is not easy. For this reason, we need to encourage and help people to change the heavy yoke as today’s scripture tells us today.

(2) It is said to get rid of all kinds of violence, which is described as a pointing finger in the English Bible. Fingers towards others. The finger that criticizes, criticizes, and points out others is violence. It is to prevent such violence like that of the fingers. (3) Abusive language is verbal violence. It's a mockery and insulting word. It's about making sure people don't get hurt with these words. (4) Helping hungry people. (5) Helping the poor, the socially disadvantaged, and the victims.

The things we do in our daily lives can be organized into things that don't hurt others and things that take care of them. We are people who fulfill this mission in our own unique ways in our own unique circumstances. Then, when we take off the heavy yoke of legalism, obsessive thoughts, burdens, greed for self-confidence, prejudice and self-belief, which are instilled into us from the outside, and put on a comfortable yoke, we can reveal the inner light God has given us and live a life of light. can live And we become like the garden we watered. In verses 10-12, “then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.” A watered garden is a person who constantly radiates peace, abundance, and abundant life force. You will become a stable and peaceful person by fulfilling your life and mission.

2. The Second half – what feet and mouths should do – Pleasure in the Lord

Verse 12 states, “IYour people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations;

you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings..” Here comes a lesson for the feet and the mouth. (1) Regarding the feet, ‘Keep your feet away from Sabbath breaking and from the pursuit of pleasure. Don't do it your way.' (2) As for the mouth, 'Confess with your lips that the Sabbath is a pleasant and honorable day. On the Sabbath, do not speak rudely or use nonsense.’ On the Sabbath, I should reflect on where my feet are and what I am saying. Our feet are where they should be, and our mouths are saying what they should be. That is, at least on the Sabbath.

In the book ‘to Have or to Be?,’ Erich Fromm explains that experiencing an ontological mode of survival is true rest. It is said that the Sabbath is to put aside even the Sabbath day the desire for possession and waste that this world has instilled in us, and to be faithful to one's own existence. It reminds me of being meshed with a giant cog in the world and spinning together, falling off that cog and becoming an independent cog. So, what would be good? (1) It says, “I find joy in the Lord” (verse 14). There are two kinds of pleasure in the second half of the verse. The first, in verse 13, is called “your pleasure,” and the second, in verse 14, “rejoicing in the Lord.” First, what is your pleasure? If you look at verse 13 in the English Bible, the words “doing as you please” appear twice, and they are recorded as “do not your own pleasure” and “do not your own.” Doing what we like is the 'your pleasure' that we must not indulge in. But second, it speaks of ‘pleasure in the Lord’. What is the difference between 'my pleasure' and 'pleasure in the Lord'? It can be said that it is the difference between the joy that I give to myself and the joy the Lord gives me. I think there is one good way that we modern people can experience that joy.

Regardless of age or gender, we cannot live without smartphones in our daily lives. Smartphones have already become part of our body. And it brings us many benefits and pleasures. But this pleasure is the pleasure of doing what we like. But how can we live without this? I think that even on the Sabbath, you can enjoy yourself as you are, not just the joy that your smartphone gives you. I'm going to do a spiritual training for 3 days 2 nights at a monastery, but the spiritual retreat rule is to submit a cell phone. If you don't have a cell phone, you'll feel anxious at first, like some kind of withdrawal. It is not easy to survive a day without a cell phone. Who contacted me, when I got a Kakao Talk, comments on Facebook, texts, emails... But, after a while, you can feel the joy. The pleasures associated with owning and the pleasures associated with being are different. The Sabbath is the day that God created me as I am, so I can pursue pleasure with such existence itself, and pursue pleasure through the circumstances that God has given me, my living environment, and my individuality and gifts.

We (2) are glorified on earth (verse 14). By glorifying God, we too are glorified. Because God is glorified, I become a glorified being who was created by such a God as his model. The honor of God becomes my honor. The righteousness of God is imputed to me and I become righteous. God's righteousness becomes my righteousness. This is the joy in the Lord. It doesn't just end with these pleasures. (3) We will live on Jacob's inheritance (verse 14). In other words, you receive and enjoy the eternal inheritance of God's promises from now on to eternity. This is the joy in the Lord. The Sabbath is the day to taste this joy. You should do this exercise often.

3. Knowing Worth – What God Gives

According to today's Word, if we do what we can for God within the scope of human ability, God will give us the most precious thing within the scope of His ability. It's not easy to know how valuable it is. To know that, we have to undergo spiritual training as we age over a long period of time.

When we humans do or do something, God makes us who we are and what state we are. Rather than giving us something concrete, as humans do, He gives us something different from what we give and receive in our day-to-day actions. When we give, God gives being. It makes us who think of possession think of existence. Like prosperity theology, it is easy to think mainly of what to do and what to give. We give material things to God, and it is easy to expect God to give us more material things. If we work for God with health, it is easy to expect to give us health. Or it's easy to expect him to give us the specifics we need in some other way.

However, God gives us ‘things that are precious in God’s sight’. He gives eternal life, forgiveness of sins, and salvation. It is something we humans cannot give and take. If we take what we can give, what we have, and use it for God's sake, God gives us what only God can give. God never asks us to take what we cannot give or do not have and use it for God's sake. And God gives us the most precious, most essential, and most ultimate thing that God can give.

There is one precious treasure. This treasure is wrapped in pretty wrapping paper. The outer packaging shows off its beauty to the full, but the treasures inside are not taken into consideration. But as the years go by, the scorching sun, wind and rain, and hail and snow fall, the wrapping paper gradually fades, fades, and rips here and there. Then, through the cracks in the faded and torn wrapping paper, the treasure inside begins to be revealed. As the years go by, the wrapping paper becomes more and more unsightly, torn and crumbling, but the more you do it, the more clearly the treasures inside are revealed. Imagine yourself as a treasure wrapped in fancy wrapping paper! When you're young, you pay all your attention to nice, catchy wrapping paper. Because people's attention is focused on this wrapping paper, and people react immediately to this wrapping paper. That's why we live our lives as if we're really good at showing off who we are. They pay all attention to their appearance, health, knowledge and abilities. However, the wrapping paper that wraps the treasure called ‘I’ gradually wears out, torn, fades, and punctures. People look at their weakened bodies, which are like old wrapping paper, to foresee their own death and death. In the meantime, you can spend your old age in fear and depression of the coming death as you slowly lose them one by one. As the years go by, our gaze, which was only on wrapping paper, stays on the treasure more. You begin to see your true identity more clearly and feel your true presence more clearly. Later in life, as you get older and your body gets weaker and unsightly, the treasures within it can become more and more clearly visible.

The treasures in this story are precious things, values, and meanings that do not change or disappear over time. That is what God has given you. For me, I need to think about what the ‘wrapping paper’ in the above story is and how I am experiencing it now. As I get older, I need to meditate on whether the treasure within me is becoming more and more evident. In God's way, in God's time, He expects us to grow spiritually, giving us what He values most. When we realize and act on the value of what God gives us, we can become like a watered garden. We can become a person who is always full of peace in the faith and has an endless heart. May you enjoy the joy of being in the Lord and become a glorified person, in the name of the Lord!
