▣ Abstract
The transport of energy carriers such as phonons and polarons are of practical importance in applications ranging from thermal management and semiconducting devices. In this talk, I will introduce novel experimental techniques to provide a picture of microscopic energy carriers in several classes of polymers, to engineer materials that challenge vast majority of all condensed phase substances yet unparalleled flexibility and low cost. In the first part, I will present an optical method to show that polyethylene films exhibit enhanced thermal conduction as high as those of metals along with its microscopic origin. In the second part, I will describe space-time imaging of transient strain-induced electronic structure modulation in a semiconducting polymer using scanning ultrafast electron microscopy(SUEM)
