▣ Abstract

Transdermal drug delivery is a method of drug administration that involves the application of a medication onto the skin for absorption into the bloodstream. It offers a non-invasive, painless, and convenient method of drug delivery, eliminating the need for frequent injections and reducing the risk of infection. However, transdermal drug delivery has been limited in its use due to the skin's barrier properties that restrict the penetration of drugs through the skin.Recent advancements in the field of microneedle technology have the potential to overcome this barrier and revolutionize the field of transdermal drug delivery. Microneedles are micron-sized needles that have been explored as a promising alternative to traditional hypodermic needles for transdermal drug delivery. Microneedles have the potential to revolutionize the field of transdermal drug delivery by offering a safe, painless, and effective method of drug administration. While challenges remain, the development and use of microneedles offer exciting opportunities for the future of medicine. The lecture covers an overview of transdermal drug delivery and potential application of microneedles as an alternative to hypodermic injections.
