Climate change, Europe’s Green Deal, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine – the EU needs to step up its efforts to switch to renewable energy sources. Spain is showing leadership in renewables including the green hydrogen and solar energy as well as in planning efficiency measures, and holding the Presidency of the Council of the EU from July 2023 it can shape European efforts for a green future. This is especially important in times when concerns over energy prices can lead to a backlash against more investment in efficient and clean renewable energy.
