University Policy
A. Yonsei University defines sexual harassment: “Unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, sexual misconduct, sexual violations, and other visual, verbal or physical conduct of a sexual harassment.
⊙ The term ‘sexual violence’ as used herein shall be defined as any physical, verbal, and psychological abuse which infringes on one’s sexual self-determination and personal rights.
⊙ ‘Sexual violence’ includes situations where faculty, staff or students partake in verbal and/or other forms of abuse to cause a person to feel sexually humiliated or revolted; or, using their position and authority to put a person at an disadvantage either in the classroom or in employment for refusing to comply to their demands.
B. Applicability: to all those who are subject to the school statutes of Yonsei University, and where the assailant and/or the victim in a sexual violence involves faculty members (including part-time instructors), staff and other third-party members who are recognized as being within the domain of university statutes.
C. Procedures
The center may intervene in the reported cases and draw resonable agreement between both parties
※ Sexual assault cases against minors(teenager) are legally subject to police reporting. Recognizing the incident, professors and staff are obliged to report the case. You can explain the system to students and report it to the police or ask the gender equity center for advice.
