1. Objective
- a. To encourage global research cooperation at Yonsei University through exchanges with scholars around the world and promote international visibility of the school.
- b. To Strengthen the position of Yonsei researchers in the supervisory/organizing institution
2. Eligibility and conditions for funding

a. In order to be eligible, an academic event should be:
- 1) An international academic conference hosted by Yonsei University under the supervision of a faculty member of the school (e.g., the chairperson of the organizing committee) (In principle, the Baekyang Nuri Grand Ballroom should be rented as the venue)
- 2) The scale of the event should:
- a) have 300 or more participants
- b) have 50 or more speakers and 20 or more of them should be from overseas institutions
- c) last at least 2 days
- d) be capable of simultaneously holding 5 or more different sessions(or of a corresponding scale)
In case of an event which meets the purpose of the program, supports can be provided even if some of the requirements above are not met. (e.g., an academic conference hosted by the University policy)
- b. Preference will be given if the event meets one of the following conditions:
- 1) In case of hosting a prominent international academic conference at Yonsei University Baekyang Nuri.
- 2) In case of inviting a foreign distinguished scholar as a major speaker (such as a keynote speaker)
Definition of ‘distinguished scholar’ : A scholar with international academic authority and reputation who is selected as the 'World's Top 1% Researcher (HCR)’, a winner of an international distinguished award (such as the Nobel Prize), editor of a prestigious academic journal
- c. Support details
- 1) Support limit: up to KRW 30 million
- Support categories: Actual expenses for venue rental fee, lecture fees, meals for participants, and other items necessary for the event (souvenir expenses, accommodation expenses, booklet and printout expenses, etc.)
Labor costs for the applicants themselves (faculty members), and research allowances cannot be executed.

a. Application Open: Call for application opens twice a year (February, August)
- 1) February: applications for events that fall between March of the current year and February of the year after next.
- 2) August: applications for events that fall between September of the current year and February of the year after next.

b. Application Procedure
- 1) Submit the application form and all required documents via official email (ysfrontierlab@yonsei.ac.kr)
- 2) Only documents submitted to the official email according to the specified application schedule will be reviewed. Applications will not be accepted after the event is conducted.

c. Required Documents
- 1) one(1) application form (plan form)
- 2) one(1) event program (or any equivalent documents that shows the contents and participants of the event. e.g., information material, invitation, pamphlet, brochure)

d. Selection and evaluation process
- 1) The application will be evaluated by pre-screening and comprehensive evaluation
- 2) Notification of decision: emailed individually after evaluation.
- a. The faculty who applied for the program will be funded through RMS. In principle, all expenses must be executed on the system.
- b. Execution: All expenses should be made in accordance with Yonsei University's research fund management regulations. It is necessary to submit relevant supporting documents for each expense. (Any remaining funds must be returned to the management office.)

All the calculations of the expenses should be settled and the documents below should be submitted to YFL within 30 days after the event has ended
- 1) one(1) Final report (prescribed form)
- 2) one(1) photo of the event which shows more than 80% of the participants
- 3) one(1) book of abstracts from the event

- a. The support program will be executed within the limits of the budget set for the relevant academic year.
- b. Expenses that are not directly related to the academic event cannot be executed.
- c. Expense categories supported/funded (or expected to be supported/funded) by other institutions cannot be executed through this program.
- d. If the Final Report is not submitted within the deadline, or it is determined by post-evaluation that the event did not meet the conditions described in the plan and application, the faculty member who made the application will be subject to restrictions in the the university’s research support programs and funding opportunities for 3 years.
- e. The scale of the event cannot be reduced just because the budget has been reduced from the amount applied for.
