Credits for the major

 

1. For the Class of 2023:

 

Students pursuing a single major (including those transferring to the bachelor’s program and graduating with a double major) must complete 12 credits of major foundations and 45 credits of major electives, totaling 57 credits.

 

Students with a double major on campus must complete 12 credits of major foundations and 24 credits of major electives, totaling 36 credits.

 

Students with a minor must complete 12 credits of minor required courses and 9 credits of major electives, totaling 21 credits.
※ Minor Required Courses for Korean Language and Literature: Understanding Korean Literature as a Major in Korean Language and Literature (3), First Steps in Korean Language Research (3), What is Literature? (3), Understanding Classical Korean Literature (3)

 

Requirements and Substitution for Completing the Second Foreign Language: Students with a minor are exempt from the obligation to complete the second foreign language. All other students follow the criteria set by the College of Liberal Arts.

 

 

2. For the Classes of 2020 to 2022

 

Single Major Students (+ Transfer Students and Graduating Students with Double Majors): Complete 12 credits of major foundations and 45 credits of major electives totaling 57 credits.
※ However, transfer students must complete 58 credits, including at least one credit of free electives.
※ The education course (“TTP3801 Research and Instruction Methods for Korean Language Teaching”) is recognized as a major elective credit.

 

Double Major Students on Campus: Complete 12 credits of major foundations and 24 credits of major electives for a total of 36 credits.

 

Minor Students: Complete 18 credits of minor required courses (refer to the table below) and 3 credits of major electives for a total of 21 credits.

 

 

3. For the Classes of 2018 to 2019

 

Single Major Students (+ Transfer Students and Graduating Students with Double Majors): Complete 12 credits of major foundations and 45 credits of major electives for a total of 57 credits.
※ However, transfer students must complete a total of 58 credits, including at least 1 credit of free electives.

 

Double Major Students on Campus: Complete 12 credits of major foundations and 24 credits of major electives for a total of 36 credits.

 

Minor Students: Complete 18 credits of minor required courses (refer to the table below) and 3 credits of major electives for a total of 21 credits. Refer to the “List of Minor Courses” on page 1 of the “College Handbook” “Curriculum for Each College” section for the required courses for each admission year, as it varies by admission year.

Second Language Requirements and Exemptions

 

International students who do not have Korean as their native language can be exempted from the requirement to complete the second foreign language by submitting a “Korean Proficiency Test (TOPIK)” score of level 5 or higher.

Major in AI Convergence Studies

 

Refer to the department’s website each semester, and apply directly through the Yonsei portal.

Students selected for the AI Convergence Intensive Major who successfully complete the specified major credits designated by each department and pass the graduation review for the AI Convergence Intensive Major will be awarded a degree certificate indicating both the major name and AI Convergence Intensive Major.
