1. One must first pass the foreign language test to participate in the comprehensive exam. The foreign language test regulations can be found in the foreign language test section.
2. Master’s program students must have earned 24 credits or more and be currently enrolled in the semester. (Note: The minimum required credits for graduation are 30.)
3. Doctoral program students must have earned 21 credits or more and be currently enrolled in the semester. (The item including 30 credits earned during the master’s program has been removed and changed to credits earned only during the doctoral program, effective since September 2006.) (Note: The minimum required credits for graduation are 30.)
4. For international students, only those who have received a ‘pass’ grade in the “<Writing and Presenting Papers in Korean>” course are eligible to take the exam. However, in the case of international students writing papers in languages other than Korean, they can, with the permission of their advisor, substitute this course with “Writing and Presenting Papers in a Foreign Language.” Students who have taken this course during the master’s program are not required to retake it during the doctoral program. However, students entering the doctoral program without obtaining a master’s degree must complete the “Writing and Presenting Papers in Korean” course for international students or “Writing and Presenting Papers in a Foreign Language” for Korean students.
5. The comprehensive exam is held every June and December on the last Saturday of the month. During the semester, the exam assistant will send an informational e-mail to currently enrolled students regarding the comprehensive exam. To participate in the exam, students must submit a Google Form on the comprehensive exam and thesis board during the period specified by the exam assistant.
The subjects for each major can be confirmed on the Korean version of the website.
