The Human Rights Center was established to protect the human rights of all members of Yonsei University thus they can pursue happiness and realize their dignity and value as human beings.
The Human Rights Center is responsible for four main tasks.
First, resolving specific human rights violations cases
The center conducts consultations and investigations on human rights violation issues and grievances, directly protects victims of human rights violations or requests protection measures, requests disciplinary measure against perpetrators of human rights violations, and makes recommendations or expresses opinions to relevant departments.
Second, investigations and research to prevent human rights violations
The committee investigates and researches laws, systems, policies, and practices related to human rights, and provides guidelines and recommendations on the types of human rights violations, criteria for judgement, preventive measures and etc. The committee also investigates the actual situation of human rights at Yonsei University and makes recommendations and expresses opinions to the relevant departments based on the results.
Third, education for human rights
The Human Rights Center conducts human rights education and promoted activities necessary to raise the human rights awareness of Yonsei students. We plan and conduct various academic events, including research on human rights education curriculum, human rights education contents, and human rights education methods.
Fourth, External Cooperation
Human rights are not protected by the efforts of one person or one organization alone, but requires the efforts and cooperation of various people and organizations. In order to protect human rights in an integrated manner, the Human Rights Center cooperates with internal institutions such as the Ethics Center, Gender Equality Centere(Center for Gender Equity), Counseling Center, and Disability Service Center(Able Center), as well as external individuals and organizations, including the National Human Rights Commission.
