The Aims of Education.
The School of Social Welfare emphasizes preparation for professional responsibilities within agency-based socal services, particularly those serving vulnerable and at-risk populations. The School challenges students to recognize the dignity of all individuals and to foster and strengthen the family and other systems of support. It also aims to develop each student's ability to integrate knowledge, values, and techniques necessary to assume professional stewardship of social welfare.
Based on the three main objectives; a servant leadership, a research frontier, and an innovative culture, the School seeks to produce highly qualified social welfare professionals equipped with global perspectives. This will lead to meet global educational standards and to produce social welfare leaders who make contributions towards the advancement of social services around the world.

Keeping in line with Yonsei’s Christian principles, the primary goal og the School of Social Welfare is th carry out education, research, and execution on a range of theories and practices in the field of social welfare, and to train highly capable professionals in the field.

The School of Socal Welfare prepares students for advanced social work practice with individuals, families, groups, organizations, communities, and in policy-related and administrative positions. It also encourages students to understand diverse groups at various practice sites and perform the roles of investigators, administrators, researchers, and evaluators in the field of social welfare.The curriculm at the School of Social Welfare is designed with emphasis on the following issues; family service programs, welfare service for the elderly, welfare for working people, strengthening of public and private sector cooperation, enhancing the planning and management capability of the public sector, enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of public assistance, and strengthening social insurance and the roles of NGO/NPOs. Upon graduation, students are expected to work in human service organizations, NGO's, and government agencies, and non-profit social welfare institutions.
