GBED Need-Based Financial Scholarship(자유장학금)
Application Announcement: 2024 Spring Semester
<NOTICE>
- Please follow the guidelines below.
- Please prepare and submit the “Required” documents designated for each scholarship.
(If not submitted, application will not be reviewed.)
- The Statement of Reasons is required to be completed and submitted in a separate form (attached file) after receiving a confirmation signature from the Academic Professor you interviewed.
- Proof of the annual income of both parents(guardians) must be submitted. In case of proving no income, only documents submitted after notarization are accepted
1. Eligibility
A. Currently attending 1st or 2nd semester of Global Basic Education Division
C. Online interview with GBED academic professor is mandatory
D. Minimum of 12 credits, GPA 2.5 or higher in 2024 Spring Semester
E. Who meet the following Korean language proficiency requirements as of the date of application
Current Status
Korean Language Proficiency
Attending 1st semester
Exempted
Attending 2nd semester
One of the following:
- TOPIK Grade 3 or higher (Expiration date is irrelevant)
- Completion of level 3 or higher at Yonsei Korean Language Institute(KLI)
- 세종한국어평가(SKA) score above 321 points
2. Application Procedure
A. Online Interview with GBED Academic Professor (하미향 교수님) (Prerequisites)
1) Period: April/29/2024 (Mon.) – May/24/2024 (Fri.)
2) How to: Contact individually via E-mail
3) From this semester, The Statement of Reasons is required to be completed and submitted in a separate form (attached file) after receiving a confirmation signature from the professor you interviewed.
B. Preparation of Evidential Documents
* If the required documents are not submitted, your application will not be reviewed.

Family Relations Certificate (亲属关系证明, 戶籍, 住民票, etc.)

Income Tax Payment Certificate
[Required of both parents(guardians)]
- Submit the certificate designated for each country/region
Refer to: List of Proof of Income Documents of Regions or Countries [Click]
- In case of engaging in income activities in Korea, submit 근로소득원천징수영수증/소득금액증명원
- In case of freelancer or day worker who cannot issue the certificate, submit payroll statement from January to December 2022 or payroll of recent twelve months.
- In case of not earning, submit documents proving no income, such as 소득없음 사실증명원, certificate of tax exemption, certificate of health insurance payment, etc. In this case, notarization is required.

D. Submission of Evidential Documents (BOTH ①, ②)
① Submit a copy of all the documents via e-mail: April/29/2024 (Mon.) – May/31/2024 (Fri.)

- File Format: PDF only (Combine all the documents into ONE PDF file in order)
- Email Title & File Name: "Student Number_Name_GBED Financial Scholarship”
② After emailing the documents, submit original versions directly to the office: by June/10/2024

- Make sure to write down your student number and name on the front of the documents.
E. Result Announcement: noticed via personal email registered on the Yonsei portal at the end of July 2024.
F. Payment: paid directly to your Korean bank account registered on the Yonsei Portal during early August 2024. Please make sure to register your account before you apply for the scholarship. (The sum of this scholarship and other tuition scholarships (e.g., 우수외국인장학금, GBED진리장학금(성적), 정부초청장학금) cannot exceed the tuition amount.)
3. Precautions [IMPORTANT]
A. Only application form and documents submitted within the period will be received. Make sure to submit within the deadline.
B. The more supporting and specific documents you submit the higher your chances of success will be.
C. If the interview with academic professor has not been carried out, the application will not be accepted.
D. All the evidential documents should be prepared in Korean or English. The documents not in Korean or English must be translated.
E. Scholarship may be canceled if the contents of the application or documents are found to be false.
