Church History
Church history is the study on the 'history' of the 'church', what is a community of God's people. Therefore, it is a study upon how “Christianity” as a religion that refers to the “church” has interacted with a society in the universal history of humanity, and how Christianity has changed and played a public role in consequence. In addition, we are asked to observe both internal and external aspects of “Church“‘s history through an ambivalent view of in inside and outside of the church by doing the research on ”history“ as an overall concept of human activity.
Specific areas of church history include: the study of church history in universal history, history of communication in various cultures and the Christian world, the Korean church history in the world church history, a critical reflection on existing research, phenomenon of current world churches, etc.
In this respect, the purpose of church history is to raise the fundamental questions of what history is and how we who record the history look at and describe it, and to cultivate a reflective intelligence so that each of us can answer the questions above.
