[Thesis] 2019 Fall GIT Dissertation Defense Schedule

GIT Graduate students who are preparing thesis(dissertation) defense for graduation in February 2020 must follow the guidelines below and submit their manuscript for the examination.


*** If you want to undergo dissertation defense this semester, you must take 'DISSERTATION' course (TGZ7999 or TGZ9999) this semester.

*** (IMPORTANT) Please note that the schedule below might be somewhat flexible due to Professors' circumstance and decision. GIT Office highly recommends you to check up the updated schedule regularly.


[Schedule]


A. Research Proposal Submission: (Wed) October 2nd, 2019
  1) Eligibility: Students who have passed comprehensive exams
  2) Download the attached proposal form (or you are allowed for free-form text, but it must include your name/research title/abstract.

  3) Submit online to gitoffice@yonsei.ac.kr by the due date. The hard copy with your advisor's signature should be submitted to GIT office later on. Students must get a stamp on its "original" form from GIT director as well as their advisor and submit it to GIT office. Students can submit the form either of the two offices, Sinchon or Songdo.


B. 1st Draft Submission: (Wednesday) October 23rd, 2019

- Dissertations submitted after the deadline will not be processed.

- Please submit your "original" copies to GIT administrative office in Songdo or UGST office in Sinchon.

- If you are outside in Korea, please send the full version of pdf to gitoffice@yonsei.ac.kr first and make your flight schedule as soon as possible (to contact for visa matters, please ask to GIT coordinator).

- You should duplicate your dissertation manuscripts (Masters : 3 copies, Ph.D : 5 copies).

- You should bring them to "UGST office" (Sinchon) to get an official stamp from the office.

- GIT Office recommends you to make the hard copies at print shops located in Sinchon campus.

- When you submit your manuscripts to UGST office, the officer will put the official stamp to confirm your submission. Then you must hand in the stamped manuscripts to each of your readers.


* By October 23rd, you should submit the following documents as well as your draft manuscripts:

  1) A copy of "Declaration of Ethical Conduct in Research" (Form download)

  2) A copy of "turnitin" (a plagiarism checker) result report (To know how to use turnitin system, please click HERE.)


C. 1st Defense (Preliminary Read): Friday, November 8th, 2019 (The detail schedule will be assigned to each candidate)


D. 2nd Draft Submission: by (Friday) 29th, 2019

- Dissertations submitted after the deadline will not be processed.

- Please submit your "original" copies to "UGST" office in Sinchon.

* By November 29th, you should submit the following documents as well as your draft manuscripts:

  1) A copy of "turnitin" (a plagiarism checker) result report (UPDATED upon your revised dissertation) (To know how to use turnitin system, please click HERE.)

  2) A Letter of "Correction Chart" at least more than 2 pages in MS word or PDF format (which is certifying that you have reflected the readers comments that you had received during the preliminary defense)


E. Final defense: One day among December 16th ~ 20th, 2019 (Examination process will be conducted only for candidates who submit dissertation manuscripts. The detail schedule will be assigned to each candidate)
