GETTING STARTED

Before You Arrive

Starting fresh at a new university can feel like stepping into the unknown, but there is no need to worry.
By completing all relevant tasks in the checklist below, you can ensure that your arrival at Yonsei University goes smoothly.

Once you are accepted to Yonsei, the Office of Admission will inform you of how to pay the tuition fees for the first semester.

Tuition bills can be printed at any time during the registration period, but not after registration is completed.

During the registration period, each student will be given a “virtual account” which is a temporary account given for the sole purpose of tuition payments.

Please check the details at Academics > Tuition & Scholarships.

After paying the tuition fees, the Office of International Affairs(OIA) will send you an email with information regarding visa application. You are required to submit documents for visa application once you receive the email from OIA. OIA will review your documents and issue the Certificate of Admission so that you can apply for a visa at the local immigration office or Korean Embassy/consulate abroad.

Please check the details at Student Visa Process.

All college freshmen will spend their first year of Resident College program at Songdo International Campus. You will be informed about Songdo Dormitory application. You need to complete the application and pay the housing fees during the application period.

All foreign students studying at Yonsei University are obliged to be insured by Korea National Health Insurance while attending school to prepare for unexpected accidents or diseases. Health insurance-related regulations and enrollment information will be individually notified by email after completing registration.

When students enter Korea and make the certificate of alien registration after receiving D-2 visa in their home country, subscription to National Health Insurance will be processed automatically. (※ Students cannot subscribe to National Health Insurance prior to arriving in Korea.)

It will take around 6 to 8 weeks to apply for and receive the Alien Registration Card. In other words, the subscription to National Health Insurance Corporation will be processed in 6 to 8 week period. This results in a 6-8 weeks where one will not be covered by insurance.

Thus the school recommends international students to subscribe to a personal insurance valid for 2 to 3 months from the moment of arrival to Korea.

Please check the details at Yonsei Life > Health & Social Security.
