Introduction to Graduate School

In March 1965, Graduate School of Business was established to strengthen national and corporate competitiveness and contribute to the national economic development by helping conduct research and educating new theories and techniques abouton the national economy and business management those who want to continue their studies in business administration or economics while working in government departments and corporations.

At the time of establishment, only the Business Master’s program and Research Program in Business were provided. As the social interest and demand for research and education of Economics that harmonize the theory and its applicabilitypractices increased, the Economics Master’s program and Research Program in Economics wereas established in March 1970.

In March 1976, the chief executive program was opened to introduce the latest management techniques and strategies to chief executive officers. In August 1992, Top Economics program was established to provide a new vision and strategy to deal with dynamic economic environments to chief executive officers and chief administrators.

In 1997, the Top Economics program changed its name to Advanced Economics program and renewed its status. 1,700 graduates (until as of February 2018) from the Economics Master’s program and the Research program in Economics are showing demonstrating remarkable performances in each field for the development of the Korean economy. In the middle of the 1990s, the idea of separating Economics and Business programs in the Graduate School of Business was proposed to adapt to the rapidly changing economic and educational environment. The idea was carefully reviewed by professors, and it was agreed that the establishment of specialized educational institutions capable of fostering professional businessmen with substantial practical and professional knowledge was inevitable in order to respond effectively to the rapidly changing economic realities.

Thus, in March 1998, based on the spirit of Christianity, the Graduate School of Economics was established to contribute to the development of the Korean economy and cultivate professionals business people with leadership and creative ability by studying and teaching Economics in a scientific way that harmonizes theory and applicationpractice. There are Master’s and research program with five majors:; Financial Economics, Insurance, International Business & Industry, Public Policy & Economic Development, and Managerial Economics, and Advanced Economics Program.
