Academic Regulations
- 1. Course years
- The master's course is 5 semesters (2 years 6 months). However, if you meet the requirements for early graduation up to the third semester, you can graduate early in the fourth semester. (See requirements for early graduation in the last semester promotional condition). Total enrollment cannot exceed 5 years (10 semesters). The study period for research program is at least two semesters and allows up to four semesters. (The period of leave of absence is not included in the school year.)
- 2. Courses
- Depending on the curriculum, the master's program must take required courses, major courses, and elective courses. Research program students must take major courses and elective courses in accordance with the curriculum.
- 3. Credits
- The minimum credits for the master's course are 35 credits for thesis and 40 credits for substituting thesis. (2 credits in each subject, 3 credits in thesis) The research program must take at least 12 credits including the required courses. Students can take up to 12 credits per semester.
- 4. Auditing
- Up to 2 credits can be audited without credit, and grades in auditing subjects are recorded as in P (pass) and NP (non-pass).
- 5. Grades
- A+(4.3), A0(4.0), A-(3.7), B+(3.3), B0(3.0), B-(2.7), C+(2.3), C0(2.0), C-(1.7), F, W, P, NP
- 6. Credit Acknowledgement
- If more than two-thirds of the lecture hours are attended, and the academic grade is C - or higher, the credits will be acknowledged.
- 7. Retake
- Students may retake the course which want to increase the grades or the courses they received F.
- 8. Comprehensive Examination
- Examination subjects are two major subjects, Microeconomics and Macroeconomics. If the required courses are over A0, the comprehensive examination for the subject is exempted. Applicants who have not attained A0 or above can take the examination after completing the 2nd semester and passes the test with score above or equal to 70. Students may progress to the final semester only if they pass the examination for both courses. Examination for failed courses may be taken the next semester. However, the pass and exemption of the comprehensive examination must be completed by the end of the fourth semester.

- 나.Minimum GPA: 3.0 / 4.3 or higher (4.2 / 4.3 or higher for early graduation)
- 다. Required Courses: Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Introduction to Economics (If Principles of Economics was taken in undergraduate years and obtained a grade more than B0, the student is exempt from taking this course. Undergraduate transcript with highlight on the relevant subject should be submitted to the administrative team of Graduate School of Economics located at room 209 Daewoo Hall before the end of the first semester.)
- 라. Major courses: 5 courses (including 2 major courses)
- 마. Pass (or Exempt) Comprehensive Examination: Microeconomics, Macroeconomics
- 바. A student who wishes to graduate with a thesis should assign the main referee for the and receive the signature of the referee in the research proposal.
(If the research proposal cannot be submitted within the above period, the thesis cannot be written in the 5th semester, and an additional 8 credits (4 courses) must be obtained and a total of 40 credits must be completed.
Those who satisfy the 6 conditions and aim to write a thesis must enroll the Thesis Writing course.
※ Eligibility for Early Graduation
Those who earn 30 credits by the 3rd semester and have a total average of 4.20 or higher. - Those who passed or are exempted from the comprehensive examination. - Those who have completed all required courses / major courses. - In the 3rd semester, students choose the main referee for the and receive the signature of the referee in the research proposal.
- 10. Degree Award

- Thesis: Students must pass the final examination (final oral examination) of the thesis at 5th semester (4th semester for early graduation) to be awarded a master's degree.
- Substitution: You can obtain a master's degree by earning an additional 8 credits (4 courses) from 32 credits, which is the progress condition to the thesis semester, and earn a total of 40 credits or more. In this case, early graduation is not allowed.
