- Jihun Kook (Power and Control System Lab) Selected as the 1st Presidential Science Scholarship for Graduate Students
- Mr. Jihun Kook (Advisor: Prof. Jung-Wook Park) in Power and Control System Lab. was finally selected as the first Presidential Science Scholarship for Graduate Students with 36 million KRW for 2 years from 2024 to 2026. This scholarship is a project established to promote the pride of M.S. and Ph.D. talents in science and engineering and to support their growth into the world’s top researchers. 120 new scholarship students were selected this year, and the competition rate for selection is about 25:1 (2,980 applications).

- Prof. Youngcheol Chae's research team was invited to present three papers at the 2024 Symposium on VLSI Technology and Circuits in Hawaii, a high-profile conference on semiconductor IC design. Three contributions are by Dr. Byungchul Park (wafer-scale SPAD X-ray detector), Taejune Jeon (wireless neurostimulator) and Dongsuk Cho (CMOS flash LiDAR sensor) presented as first authors.

- Minkyong Kang (Professor Jeongmok Seo’s research team) approved for publication in Biosensors & Bioelectronics
- Prof. Jungmok Seo’s research team (BLISS) introduced a 3D-printable hydrogel ink developed through a multifunctional hydrogel with self-healing, adhesion, and conductivity functions. A ring-shaped sensor can be attached to a person's fingers enabling game control. The results were approved for publication in Biosensors & Bioelectronics (IF=12.6, JCR Top 1.7%). This study was supervised by Professor Jungmok Seo (corresponding author) and led by Minkyong Kang, the first author.

- Yonsei University and Samsung Display sign an agreement for the 3rd Display Research Center
- Yonsei University made an agreement with Samsung Display on April 8th to establish the 3rd display research center. The ‘Samsung Display-Yonsei University Display Research Center’ has been established to secure core next-generation display technologies and cultivate doctoral-level display experts. With this agreement, Yonsei University and Samsung Display will jointly conduct research on future display and collaborate on nurturing next-generation global talents for the next five years. Vice President of Samsung Display Jong Hyuk Lee, Dean of the College of Engineering Chungyong Lee, and Vice Dean of the Research Affairs Department Chulmin Joo attended to the agreement ceremony.

- Prof. Kim’s group selected for outstanding collaborative research laboratory for the 2nd Samsung Display Research Center
- Prof. Hyun Jae Kim’s group (Electronic Device Lab) has been selected as an outstanding collaborative research laboratory for the 2nd Samsung Display Research Center, based on its excellent research achievements and personnel development. This is a particular honor as the selection was made among 70 research groups from 11 universities participating in the Samsung Display Research Center for its outstanding research achievements and talent development records. This accomplishment is thought to be the result of the partnership between Yonsei University and Samsung Display, and both institutions are poised to lead technology innovation by continued close collaboration.

- Dr. Seon Hyeog Kim (Prof. Yong-June Shin’s group) Was awarded the Outstanding New Employee Award by ETRI
- Dr. Seon Hyeog Kim, a 2022 graduate, was awarded the Outstanding New Employee Award by ETRI in April 2024. He works in the Digital Convergence Research Laboratory in ETRI and is currently carrying out a research project titled “Development of Battery Life Cycle Management and Traceability System”, which is a collaborative project of our department and is funded by the Korea Development Institute (KDI). The Outstanding New Employee Award is granted to the top five candidates out of approximately 400 new employees, judged on their research output and work over the past three years. His receipt of the award ins particularly notable as he is the only winner who has been with the organization for less than three years.

- Prof. Shin Leads for EIPP Hungary Project on Electric Vehicle Battery Life Cycle Management and Traceablility System
- Prof. Shin has been selected for the 2024 Economic Innovation Partnership Program (EIPP). In this work, Prof. Shin will establish KHBCC (Korea-Hungary Cooperation Center) in partnership with KDI (Korea Development Institute), ETRI (Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute), the Hungarian ministry for national economy, BME (Budapest University of Technology and Economics), and the HUBA (Hungarian Baattery Association). Through the partnership, Yonsei University offers dual degree programs with BME.

- Prof. Jong-Moon Chung MSIT Minister's Award of Excellence
- Prof. Jong-Moon Chung received the Minister's Award of Excellence from the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT), Republic of Korea on Dec. 26, 2023. Prof. Chung received this award based on his successful XR Flagship Project which combined advanced XR (eXtended Reality), AI (Artificial Intelligence), and Digital Twin technologies. This system was developed to enable realistic XR training for the National Fire Agency, Korea Fire Safety Institute, and the Ministry of Interior and Safety of the Republic of Korea.

- Prof. Donghyun Kim’s lab. published a cover paper in Nano Letters
- Prof. Kim’s Biophotonics Engineering Lab. experimentally verified temperature-driven plasmonic nonlinearity using near-field scanning optical microscopy for the first in the world. The results were published as a cover paper in Nano Letters (IF = 10.8, JCR rank = 7%) This study was led by Dr. Hongki Lee and Dr. Seongmin Im (co-first authors) under the supervision of Prof. Donghyun Kim. Prof. Shi-Wei Chu (National Taiwan University, Department of Physics) and Prof. Aaron Ho-Pui Ho (The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Department of Biomedical Engineering) participated in this study.
