Title : What can we do with 5G? - Supported use cases and expected performance
Abstract:
The first 5G standardization was finalized at the end of 2017 and an interest gradually moves toward the real implementation of radio base station products and core networks. Compared to 4G LTE, 5G new radio (NR) will support a mmWave frequency range and also is designed to be more flexible to enable diverse use cases. This seminar discusses the expected performance of 5G radio networks and provide the proof points of supported use cases. The system performance based on Ericsson state of art 3D channel shows that 3.5GHz is very valuable on existing grids when used together with lower bands. 30GHz is useable in deployments with good coverage. Examples include line of sight to building, small cells, fixed wireless, outdoor-to-outdoor, and indoor-to-indoor. In addition, NR supports factory automation with 100% system availability subject to extreme link requirements.
