Academic Writing Lectures and Workshops

Outline

Run weekly writing workshop at nights for students hoping to improve their writing skills. Scholarships for the students who completed the workshop earnestly in order to increase participation

Language Exchange Program

Outline

Match foreign and Korean students to improve their Korean skills.

Characteristics
  • a. Mutual Member to Member Program: Different from one-sided tutoring, both the Korean and foreign student can learn languages from each other.
  • b. Providing a differentiated Program: Students would be screened to be selected and after orientation, students hoping to do language exchange would be matched together. This program would differ from existing programs because this wouldn’t be just free talking, but ways to use services within campus would be explained, have cultural experiences, and adjusting to Korean university life and university education skills can be shared. This could help foster Korean language study activities.
  • c. Side by Side Performance Management Program : Apart from just the matching, the outstanding group from the language exchange program will turn in their performance materials and these will be showcased and be used as online content to promote the program’s effectiveness and continuation.

Excellent Material Contest

Outline

Reward returning students with excellent assignment materials to instill fervor for course research and grow interest and skill for academic writing.

Characteristics
  • a. Reinforcing the use of materials for academic sources: Provide an example of an excellent piece of writing on the department homepage that students can use to follow in their own writing.
