- Yonsei University Successfully Hosts GlobalEM 2026
- Yonsei University hosted GlobalEM 2026, one of the world's leading international conferences on high-power electromagnetics, from June 29 to July 3 at Baekyangnuri on the Sinchon Campus. Originally established in 1978 as the Nuclear Electromagnetic Pulse Meeting, GlobalEM has evolved into a prestigious international conference with nearly five decades of history. The conference covers a broad range of topics related to high-power electromagnetics, including high-power electromagnetic theory and devices, electromagnetic security, and high-power electromagnetic system technologies. This year's conference brought together approximately 350 researchers, industry professionals, and defense experts from 21 countries, with around 140 high-quality technical papers presented. The event opened with welcoming remarks by Yonsei University President Yoon Dong-seop, followed by a congratulatory address from the Vice Chairman of the Republic of Korea Joint Chiefs of Staff. The conference featured a diverse technical program consisting of keynote speeches, special panel discussions, oral presentations, poster sessions, workshops, and tutorials. In particular, participants discussed opportunities for collaboration between academia and industry through sessions on topics such as "High Power Microwave Sources" and "Sensing-based Physical Artificial Intelligence." The conference was chaired by Professor Jong-Gwan Yook of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Yonsei University, with Professors Yong-Sik Lee and In-Sang Yoo serving as members of the organizing committee. The event was also supported by major domestic and international companies as conference sponsors. By hosting GlobalEM 2026, Yonsei University further demonstrated Korea's research excellence in electromagnetic systems while strengthening its global academic network and international leadership in the field of electromagnetics. - Yonsei University Successfully Hosts ISSW 2026, the World’s Premier Conference on SPAD Sensors and Imaging Technologies
- Yonsei University successfully hosted the International SPAD Sensor Workshop (ISSW 2026), one of the world's leading conferences on semiconductor and image sensor technologies, from June 1 to 4 at the Baekyangnuri Grand Ballroom on the Sinchon Campus. Held biennially, ISSW is a premier international conference that brings together researchers and industry experts to share the latest advances in Single-Photon Avalanche Diode (SPAD) sensors and related technologies, including LiDAR, Time-of-Flight (ToF), and biomedical applications. This year's workshop was organized by Yonsei University, with Professor Myung-Jae Lee of the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering serving as the General Chair. Approximately 200 researchers, industry leaders, and experts from around 20 countries participated in the conference, with nearly 60 percent of attendees coming from overseas. The four-day program featured invited talks, oral presentations, and poster sessions covering SPAD technologies, ToF and LiDAR systems, and other emerging semiconductor sensor technologies, providing a platform for active international collaboration and academic exchange. The event also received strong support from leading global semiconductor companies, including STMicroelectronics and Sony, further strengthening collaboration between academia and industry. By hosting ISSW 2026, Yonsei University further demonstrated its global research excellence and international leadership in next-generation semiconductor image sensor technologies. - Prof. Jemin Lee, selected for IITP 6G AI-RAN Project
- Professor Jemin Lee has been awarded a national R&D project funded by IITP, titled “Development of Adaptive RAN/RIC Technologies for Application Performance Guarantee,” with Korea University, Seoul National University, Ajou University, HFR, and the three major Korean telecom operators (SK Telecom, KT Corporation, and LG U+). Yonsei University is expected to receive a total of KRW 1.16 billion over a period of 2 years and 9 months and drive global AI-RAN commercialization through field tests.

- Dr. Mingi Oh (Professor Jung-Wook Park’s team) Appointed as Assistant Professor at ECE, Georgia Southern University
- Dr. Mingi Oh, a graduate from Professor Jung-Wook Park’s research group in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Yonsei University, has been appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Georgia Southern University starting August 2026. Dr. Oh received his M.S. degree in February 2015 from Yonsei University and worked as an electric vehicle researcher at Hyundai Motor Company. He subsequently earned his Ph.D. in July 2025 from North Carolina State University and is currently conducting research on power electronics for electrified aircraft systems at BAE Systems.

- Prof. Min-Seong Choo has joined Yonsei EE as an Assistant Professor in March 2026. He mainly focus on wireline communication systems with various/challenging integrated circuits (Electrical/Optical) for next-generation interconnect over 100 Gb/s.
