Professor Hyun Jae Kim's Award from National Academy of Engineering of Korea

The National Academy of Engineering of Korea, which has Korea’s top engineering technology experts including industry experts and professors of engineering as members, had selected 238 individuals who has contributed to the development of the future technologies for 10 months from February 2017 with the participation of 120 industry, academia, and research experts during the selection process in order to discover 100 technologies. Professor Hyun Jae Kim has contributed to the research of oxide semiconductors, a key technology in the production of display backplanes, and thus was chosen for one of the top 100 technologies and leaders.

Professor Ki Jun YU's Publication in ACS Nano

Functional Bio-integrated Electronics research team have developed a passive, bioresorbable electrode array with an ultra-thin Si encapsulation barrier. In vivo neural recordings with the bioresorbable neural sensors in adult rat animal models showed good performance associated with both action potentials and local field potentials. This particular device functions for a programmed time period and slowly dissolves in the body over time such that the secondary surgery to extract the device is not required. The National Research Foundation supported this research. The new results are published in the journal of ACS Nano.

Professor Ki Jun Yu's Publication in ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces

Functional Bio-integrated Electronics research team observed the the chemical stability of ultrathin films of thermally grown silicon dioxide in aqueous solutions with different combinations of chemistries that are present in biofluids. These findings establish foundational data of relevance to predicting lifetimes of implantable devices that use silicon dioxide as biofluid barriers, and of other classes of systems, such as environmental monitors, where encapsulation against water penetration is important. The National Research Foundation supported this research. The new findings are published in ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces.
