- Based on the evaluations of FWCI (Field Weighted Citation Indicator) values for individual faculties in the college of Engineering, Professor Ki Jun Yu is appointed as Hwalchun Distinguished Professor. Hwalchun Distinguished Professor is intended to recognize individual faculty for sustained performance of excellence in research in the College of Engineering.

- Prof. Yoonsik Choe was elected as Lead Associate Editor of IEEE Access, Consumer Technology Society (CTS) Section for 2021~2023 yrs. IEEE Access is an on-line access journal of IEEE, which is designed for rapid publication of papers in rapidly developing areas such as AI. Currently, this journal is rated as JCR2019: Q1, IF: 3.745 as one of the world widely renown first class journal. Also, Prof. Choe was elected as a Topic Editor of MDPI Applied Sciences (Q2, IF: 2.474) in April for 2021~2023 yrs.

- Smart Grid Lab(Prof. Kyeon Hur) signed Techstar Agreement with Yonsei University Technology Holdings Company
- The Smart Grid research team (Professor Kyeon Hur, Ph.D candidate Jiseong Kang) signed a Techstar business agreement with Yonsei University Technology Holdings. The Techstar project aims to expand technology transfer and start-up opportunities by discovering items (technologies, ideas) with high potential for commercialization for researchers in Yonsei University's campuses and helping them become commercialized. The Smart Grid research team will receive funding from the technology holding company to purchase materials and manufacture prototypes for the next five months based on the grid forming technology. The agreement is expected to increase the possibility of starting a business specialized in grid-forming inverter engineering.

- Prof. Ki Jun Yu received the “Best Educator Award”
- Based on the evaluations of all the lectures conducted during the year 2018, 2019, & 2020, Prof. Ki Jun Yu won the “Best Educator Award” in the college of engineering, selected by Yonsei University's administrative department. The “Best Educator Award” is intended to recognize individual faculty, who has received the annual distinguished faculty awards for teaching excellence more than three times. Prof. Yu, Tae Soo Kim, Taemin Kim, Young Uk Cho, Kyowon Kang, Myeongki Cho, Minkyu Sang, Jongwoon Shin, Jae Jin Park, Seung Won Hwang, Ki Ho Kim, Jooyoung Lee, Sanghoon Park, Kyu Been Kim, and Jung Min Seo all together incited curiosity, motivated, and enhanced the success of Yonsei students.

- Prof. Chae’s research team published a paper in IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits (JSSC)
- In Prof. Youngcheol Chae's research team, Dr. Chanmin Park developed a compressive-sensing CMOS image sensor that achieves state-of-the-art energy efficiency and was published in the prestigious IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits (JSSC). The technology consists of a novel algorithm and a circuit design in a compressive-sensing imager, which are implemented before digitization, but at the output of the sensor. As a results, the developed sensor achieves both high image quality and high energy-efficiency.

- Professor Donghyun Kim Elected As Fellow of SPIE
- Professor Donghyun Kim of School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Yonsei University, was elected as Fellow of the SPIE in 2021 for the achievement in the area of biomedical imaging and sensing based on plasmonics. Professor Kim received Ph. D. at MIT and worked at Corning Inc. and Cornell University before joining Yonsei in 2004 and has been recognized as one of the leaders in biophotonic imaging and sensing technology. The SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, was founded in 1955. More than 255,000 members in 183 countries are active for advancement of light-based technology.

- System IC Research Center for Automotive Semiconductors
- Our Semiconductor Group (P.I. Kang, Sungho and 10 others) is selected for the “System IC Research Center” by MSIT. The semiconductor group formed a consortium with three other departments, and 13 companies including Samsung Electronics. Through this project, we aim to cultivate system IC engineers specialized in automotive semiconductors with a budget of $9M over the next 6 years.
