Research Areas & Labs

The eMerging eLectronics group is internationally recognized for leading the development of next-generation nanoscience and technologies, circuits and systems for future electronics. The ML consists of two sub-groups, NanoScience and Technology (NST) and Core Electronic Systems (CES). The NST studies material physics, nanoscale devices, optoelectronics, and ultra-dense semiconductor devices. The CES develops energy, area, and cost-efficient integrated circuits and systems for biomedicine, smart cars, 5G communication devices, etc.

NanoScience and Technology (NST)

The research of NanoScience and Technology covers the broad scope of nanostructure physics. The properties of new materials and devices enable the development of energy-efficient systems, and they can be applied to bioelectronic or optoelectronic devices. The applications of bioelectronics include electronic skin and organic electronics. In optoelectronics, photons are used to monitor nanostructures or develop future computing devices. Related undergraduate courses are Optoelectronics and Photonics, Electronics Physics, Semiconductor Physics, Nano-engineering, and Nanomaterials and Devices. The following are the faculty members of NST.
